Is Freelancing for Me?

Have you been thinking a lot about venturing out on your own and entering the freelance life? If you have the option, but not really sure whether to bite the bullet, read on for the pros and cons of working for yourself.

PRO- You’re your own boss. You have to be honest with yourself here. Will you be a strict or lenient boss? Either is fine, but you have got to be able to motivate yourself.

CON- You have several clients to answer to, and it can be a juggling act at times. Also, there may not be a person that’s considered a higher rank than you, but you a client can still ‘fire’ you.

PRO - You can make your own schedule which is perfect for those who thrive at odd hours.

CON- There will be some weekends that need to be sacrificed and you will put in very long days for weeks at a time.

PRO - You can choose what projects you want to work on and who you want to work with.

CON - It may take a while to find that dream client or project and you may end up hustling 24/7 for clients.

PRO - You have unlimited earning potential.

CON - Sporadic payment schedule.

PRO - No commuting or commuting costs.

CON - If you’re not ok with being alone, you may start to feel isolated.

Ultimately, it’s your decision to do what’s best and what feels in alignment for you.
